On June 3, 2018 By grassupthemiddleLeave a comment

A short and sweet ride into the city with Nick this morning for breakfast and a catch up turned into a sixty mile full day out. We had planned to head down the river to brew and breakfast somewhere along the way but a suggestion from Nick to head to Moose Cafe for breakfast didn’t …

Tuesday 12th Sept. An early start with a keen eye on the skies this morning.  The actual conditions and the forecast not quite matching up, but apart from the unavoidable wet roads all was relatively well as myself, Steve and Graham met at the usual spot and headed off for a now classic #grassupthemiddle breakfast …

What would Charlie Chadwick do..?

On August 20, 2017August 21, 2017 By grassupthemiddle3 Comments

Its no secret that both Paul and I have developed a real enthusiasm for the writings of Mr Charles Chadwick, I still find the early writings of the then seventeen year old Charlie hard to believe, the fact that it started almost a century ago only adding to the sense of amazement. Todays ride was …

Standby, standby, no, no, no…

Not quite the way I remember it, but that? That's the battle going on inside my head. On the one side, the voice reminding me of my love of riding bikes. On the other side, a louder voice telling me I can't. Some days I really struggle to get out there and turn the pedals, …

Best laid plans and all that... Its a bank holiday weekend, it was supposed to be the Grassupthemiddle gangs first foray over the border to sample some of Will's new local trails, suddenly it went from all of us going to none of us going, life has a way of doing that sometimes. A plan …

Our #gutmspringforward23 bivvy weekend has just taken place, there was a good turnout and the weather was mostly kind, unfortunately I managed to pick up yet another chest infection so couldn’t make it so I’ll be intrigued to read about it in a forthcoming blog post coming soon There’s a new post up on the blog, some excellent writing and snapping about some fun winter riding from our pal @singlespeedsimon Bicycle rides are always enhanced by either a train or boat journey somewhere along the way, boats are best but trains run a close second twenty five miles into 25mph headwinds equals a beer on a bench with a sea view @farmyardbrewco ground conditions wet, forecast wet, bring mudguards Last reminder that if you are coming along to the #GUTMspringforward23 bivvy please let us know so we can book dinner for the evening, we’ll be eating at a country pub that gets busy on a Saturday night The forecast is looking good for this coming Sunday, so it maybe a good day for a fully loaded shakedown ride in preparation for the #GUTMspringforward23 bivvy ? Meeting at 830am @Riverbankcoffee for a ride out to Rostherne Church across the cheshire tundra, a sociable thirty miles or so, all welcome #GUTMspringforward23 bivvy details, meeting at the Riverbank Cafe at 1030 and riding by 11ish, sociable pace and mostly flat until the last pull up to the bivvy spot, dinner at a pub, amazing night under the stars, early morning artisinal coffe, ride home fully satisfied The next Sunday Service will be decided on the day due to the weather forecast, it looks like heavy rain so if we do ride it’ll be into the city for an urban exploration, meeting at 8am at Riverbank for coffee
