About a month or so ago I sent a letter. Wanting nothing in return it was sent with one purpose, to say thank you! It was sent to David Warner. The man responsible for bringing the world of one Charlie Chadwick to life ( please see previous post - Pot of gold... ) Charlie’s diaries ( 4 …

Four Six Eight Two…

Numbers engraved on the very depth of my soul. Why? My last 4 from my time in the Army. A life that has long since past. Why am I telling you this? Well, because the ride last Friday brought back memories, so many memories. Trundling along Cheshires Finest B roads, tired but happy. Piss wet …

Rough with the smooth…

What a difference a week makes. I wasn't at all surprised to see rain make an appearance on the forecast. It was my birthday yesterday after all! Plus, a week of fairly glorious weather in May will only ever end one way.  After such a wonderful turnout last week it was inevitable that our numbers …

I once had a moorhen through me spokes…

Its true, I did. On a towpath. It was a terrible ordeal. It shot out of a side-lying shrub straight through my spinning, slicing spokes. I watched its half-mangled feathered frame thrash far away into the darkened underbrush and I could do nothing but laboriously slide away, the guilt weighing heavy on every half-arsed stroke …

Night moves…

The joy of riding after dark. Whilst the quantity of evening rides Steve & I have enjoyed this summer have been relatively few, the quality has been top notch. It can be difficult to summon the energy to head back out on the bike on a Friday night after a week at work, especially if the …

Our #gutmspringforward23 bivvy weekend has just taken place, there was a good turnout and the weather was mostly kind, unfortunately I managed to pick up yet another chest infection so couldn’t make it so I’ll be intrigued to read about it in a forthcoming blog post coming soon There’s a new post up on the blog, some excellent writing and snapping about some fun winter riding from our pal @singlespeedsimon Bicycle rides are always enhanced by either a train or boat journey somewhere along the way, boats are best but trains run a close second twenty five miles into 25mph headwinds equals a beer on a bench with a sea view @farmyardbrewco ground conditions wet, forecast wet, bring mudguards Last reminder that if you are coming along to the #GUTMspringforward23 bivvy please let us know so we can book dinner for the evening, we’ll be eating at a country pub that gets busy on a Saturday night The forecast is looking good for this coming Sunday, so it maybe a good day for a fully loaded shakedown ride in preparation for the #GUTMspringforward23 bivvy ? Meeting at 830am @Riverbankcoffee for a ride out to Rostherne Church across the cheshire tundra, a sociable thirty miles or so, all welcome #GUTMspringforward23 bivvy details, meeting at the Riverbank Cafe at 1030 and riding by 11ish, sociable pace and mostly flat until the last pull up to the bivvy spot, dinner at a pub, amazing night under the stars, early morning artisinal coffe, ride home fully satisfied The next Sunday Service will be decided on the day due to the weather forecast, it looks like heavy rain so if we do ride it’ll be into the city for an urban exploration, meeting at 8am at Riverbank for coffee
